CANCELED! Winter Storm Ends Plans for Ice Skating

FINAL UPDATE (January 22, 2026, 4:30 p.m.) - Friendly Park has received notification from Piedmont Winterfest that due to forecasted conditions, the ice rink will be closed through the Jan. 24-25 weekend when we had planned to gather for morning skating in downtown Greensboro.
 
Look for more information in the weeks ahead about Friendly Park's springtime egg hunt and preseason opportunities for new and returning athletes on our award-winning summer swim team.
 
UPDATE (January 22, 2026, 6:15 a.m.) - Friendly Park management is monitoring forecasts for a significant winter storm during the overnight hours of Saturday into Sunday. Additional communications will be emailed to membership and shared on social media should conditions force the cancellation of our event. Any decision will likely be made no later than midday Saturday.

Friendly Park has reserved the Piedmont Winterfest rink for our annual morning of family fun on ice! Make plans to hop downtown from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, at LeBauer Park. Admission AND skate rentals are free for members. No RSVP or registration required - we'll look for you there!
 
IMPORTANT: There is NO rain date for this event.
