It is happening!! The pool will be opening this Saturday, May 23rd at 10:00 am!
Following the Governor's announcement of the implementation of Phase 2 for North Carolina, we will be opening the pool with a few changes to meet the requirements. As things change throughout the summer, these requirements may change as well. The Friendly Park website will have a full listing of all these requirements, and it will be updated as changes are made. https://www.friendlypark.com/
While these new requirements may take a little getting used to, if we all work together this should be a very memorable and unique summer!
The biggest change will be a reservation system that will allow us to comply with maximum capacity limitations at Friendly Park, which for now will be 100 members. The main pool and baby pool will have separate posted maximum "in-the-water" swimmer capacities. Combined, these swimmer capacities will likely be lower than the 100 members allowed inside the gate.
Online Reservations will be made for 2.5-hour time blocks, with 30 minutes between blocks reserved for cleaning to prepare for the next group. (With the exception of the last block of the evening. This block, beginning at 7:00 pm, will be 1.5-hour time block.)
To access our online reservation system, all paid members (including auto-draft members) must contact this email to receive their registration information:email@example.com
There will be a reservation block set aside for Higher Risk members
There is a waiver that applies to only COVID-19 claims that you will be asked to sign. Electronic copies will be available through the online reservation system, and hard copies will be made available at the pool.
We have also implemented other changes to keep our Friendly Park community safe:
To adhere to social distancing foosball and Ping-Pong will not be offered, while the soccer goals and basketball court will be available - BYOB (Bring your own BALL!)
The concession stand will be limited to prepackaged snacks and drinks.
For now, events like Float Night and Wibits Nights will not be held, nor will our Annual Memorial Day Cookout,
Tables and Chairs will be sanitized between blocks, but you are welcome to bring your own chair if you prefer
Please arrange chairs with social distancing in mind. It will be up to each of us to maintain our distance throughout the day.
Lifeguards are there to keep us safe in the pool, it will be each household's duty to distance themselves.
If you are symptomatic, please stay AT home! We want to keep everyone safe!
The board is taking the steps necessary to meet both the CDC and Health Department requirements and ensure a fun and safe summer at the pool! Please regularly check the Friendly Park Website https://www.friendlypark.com/ for new announcements as we all get geared up for a great summer! All important information and details will continue to be posted there.
While it won't be business as usual exactly at the pool this summer, if we all look out for one another as our community normally does, plenty of fun in the sun (or shade!) is there to be had at Friendly Park this summer!!
