This Week at Friendly

It's already been a busy season at the pool and there's plenty more to go this summer as we turn the calendar to the second half of 2026.

  • The Frogs travel to Lake Jeanette on Tuesday
  • Celebrate the Fourth of July at Friendly!
  • A note about guest policies and City Meet
  • A towel drive to benefit The Servant Center of Greensboro

The Frogs Visit Lake Jeanette on Tuesday

The Friendly Swim Team travels to Lake Jeanette this week for its fifth and final dual meet of the summer swim season. The away meet on June 30 against the Lightning means no afternoon swim practice. Membership can expect full access to all swimming lanes throughout the day. Look for meet highlights and updates on Friendly's Instagram and Facebook feeds.

Celebrate Independence Day at Friendly!

Beat the heat and celebrate America's 250th in style with Friendly's traditional festivities and food!

Some quick reminders:

  • Guest fees are $10/person and pre-purchased passes will not be accepted.
  • Be mindful of where you park (avoid handicapped spaces, the ramp up toward the entrance, and anywhere you see orange cones).
  • Patience is appreciated as managers and lifeguards work to make your day at the pool memorable and fun for the whole family.
  • Gates open at 11 a.m. Games begin at 1 p.m.

We'll do our best to keep the check-in line moving smoothly. Because this is one of the busiest days of the year for the pool, consider bringing your own chairs to ensure seating.

A Note about Guest Policies and Blackout Dates for City Meet

Friendly Park Swim & Tennis offers one of the most generous guest policies of any pool in the surrounding area. At the same time, the number of members hosting guests has been steadily climbing this season, which is leading to a need for increased staffing and longer wait times for hot food service. Pool management has noted the trend and the Board of Directors plans to revisit pool rules and guest policies/fees when planning for the 2027 season.

Until then, please be mindful of a few important dates and policies:

  • Due to staffing levels during City Meet, there will be NO GUESTS PERMITTED from July 9-11, 2026.
  • There are NO REFUNDS for guest pass purchases. Pay attention to weather forecasts before purchasing guest passes for friends or relatives.
  • Members are responsible for the actions of their guests. Per Friendly's policies, members must be present on the property when hosting a guest.

You can find Friendly's full list guest policies under Section V of the pool's rules and regulations.

A Towel Drive to Benefit The Servant Center of Greensboro

Fresh off a successful bathing suit drive led by rising Grimsley High School junior Aurelia Wilder to benefit children in Kazakhstan, rising Grimsley senior Maddie Testa is organizing a towel drive to support a nonprofit that works with vulnerable residents across our community.

Drop off new or gently used bath/pool towels between now and July 8 in bins that are directly outside the pool office. Your donations will be delivered to The Servant Center of Greensboro. Its mission? "Empower the homeless and disabled, particularly veterans, to become independent, contributing members of our community through housing, healthcare, and restorative services."

NOTE: Towels placed in the bin for donation are intended only for clients of The Servant Center. They are not to be removed, borrowed or "swapped out" by membership.

Thank you in advance to everyone who contributes! Questions? Email Ms. Testa at madelinectesta@gmail.com.
