KEEPING FRIENDLY A BEST VALUE
To Our Friendly Park Families and Friends,
With the snow finally melted (knock on wood!) and sunlight after 6 p.m., it won't be long until we're back together in the water and on the courts of our pool community. Since 1958, thousands of families have made countless memories at Friendly Park Swim & Tennis. We look forward to all that's ahead in 2026 - cookouts, swim meets, Swim for Cancer fundraisers, float nights, and so much more.
To that end, the Friendly Park Board of Directors recently voted on returning membership rates effective for the 2026 season, which will be reflected in the days ahead as invoices are emailed to you:
Family Memberships: $895
Couple/Single: $695
Senior: $450 (no increase from 2025)
These are the first rate increases in a few years and demonstrate the board's commitment to maintaining Friendly's position as a best value in Greensboro for private pool membership. There are anticipated increases in power and gas rates, as well as tax implications associated with recent property value reassessments. At the same time, with a demand for certified lifeguards across the city, these increases will help Friendly recruit and retain highly qualified staff committed to your safety.
Once invoices are distributed, members who pay early AND in full (payment plans do not qualify) will receive either a $10 snack bar credit OR one guest pass booklet. Cash will NOT be accepted this year for membership dues.
The board wants to keep you informed of two additional strategic considerations.
1.) Work is in progress on finalizing new membership tiers that align Friendly with offerings at other pools in the area. These tiers, which we expect to introduce for the 2027 season, will better reflect the many types of household structures found within our pool community while offering longtime Friendly members options that prioritize affordability.
2.) The Board of Directors has started conversation about a strategic plan to guide our approach to offerings, rates, and capital improvements. Certain systems "expire" in the mid 2030s and will likely not meet code by that point. A significant investment will be needed to renovate the pool as it currently exists. Directors and pool management are focused not only on annual priorities and operational needs but also long-term opportunities (even those a decade away) to keep us the envy of Greensboro. We'll provide updates as that conversation unfolds.
Thank you for choosing to make Friendly Park Swim & Tennis your home for summertime family memories. We look forward to seeing you again soon - opening night is Friday, May 22, starting at 6:30 p.m.!
