Congratulations 2009 Friendly Frogs City Meet Champions!
2009 season
GCC comes to Friendly
The defending City Champions visited Friendly on June 15 in what turned out to be a very exciting meet. The lead switched back and forth until midway through the 50 freestyle events. Friendly took the lead and held on to beat GCC by 14 points. What a thrilling way to begin the season.

Friendly visits the swamp at Green Valley
Green Valley hosted Friendly on June 18. Their lively spirit and hospitality made for another fun meet. Friendly was easily able to handle the gator bite, however. The frogs beat their buddies by over 400 points.

Frogs jump into Hamilton Lakes
Hamilton Lakes again was a great and fun meet with many challenges from both sides. In the end the Frogs were too much for the Hornets.

Another fun filled event where the Friendly Frogs where able to leap the HP Elks in competition!

The Friendly Frogs were able to sweep the continuing rivalry with GCC. It was tough but well fought!

GENERAL INFORMATION
Team Fees & Membership Forms
Swimmers must register and pay fees annually. The cost is $45 for each swimmer. Tadpoles are also required to pay swim team fees. These monies help cover team dues and entry fees in the Community Swim Association (CSA) as well as other team expenses. One CSA Release form per swimmer must be completed prior to a swimmer’s participation in team practice or a meet click to get the form here.
We need all parents to each take a volunteer position on the sign-up sheet!
There is a lot of hard work by Coaches, Swimmers and Parents that go into a Greensboro Champion (2006, 2005, etc.) swim team. Let’s bring it back home this year!
PLEASE REMEMBER TO PARK at the Friendly Park Pool parking area or within the neighborhood, not at business such as Behavioral Health as those are private parking spaces.
Suits & Caps
Donna Bailey (dbailey94@triad.rr.com or 297-1216) is coordinating the suit and cap sales again this season. She will have suits (to try on) at several of the ‘Spring Warm – Up’ sessions and at the pool once practice starts there….times TBD. Suits are also available other times by appointment. The absolute deadline to order a suit and cap at the reduced team rate is May 25th. NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!

Tadpole Stroke School
The tadpole program is for beginning swimmers who are not quite ready to participate in the regular swim team practice. It is not swimming lessons. (Swimming lessons are offered at the pool mornings after schools are out.) In order to participate as a Tadpole, a swimmer must know the basic fundamentals of swimming and be able to swim independently without a coach in the water. The coaches decide when a swimmer is ready to become a Tadpole. During the season it is possible for a beginning swimmer to ‘graduate’ to the regular swim team practice session. The general criteria used to determine when a child is ready to move up are the ability to ‘legally’ swim freestyle 25 yards and backstroke 25 yards.
Until school gets out, all 8 & unders, including tadpoles will practice from 4:30 - 5. Once school gets out the tadpoles will only practice at 8AM.

* Email is the primary means of conveying team information. Please make sure we have your current email address. Notify a team rep of any changes.
* Frequently check the Swim Team bulletin board at the pool for announcements.
* There will be a ‘meet sheet’ posted on the bulletin board for swimmers to indicate which meets they will be ABSENT for. It is essential that each swimmer update that sheet so the coaches will not schedule them to swim on that date, thereby denying another swimmer the opportunity to swim. Also, on the same ‘meet sheet’, parents please indicate if your young swimmer will not stay for relays, so the coaches won’t schedule them to swim in a relay –check the box ‘NR’ (No Relay).
