Welcome to Friendly Tennis!

A Note from Precision Tennis Head Pro, Kelly Parker

Welcome to the new tennis program at Friendly Park! We are ready to make this our most fun and best season yet!
I am very excited to be starting with the Frogs in the upcoming months! We have lots of opportunities for everyone to play. We are excited to introduce Quickstart Tennis and year-round league play with our new coaches, Clayton Hamilton and myself.
I come to Friendly from a playing and a coaching background. I grew up in Florida and played junior tennis nationally and internationally. From there I made the decision to attend Duke on a full scholarship for tennis (For the UNC fans, I promise I didn't know I would be upsetting so many people when I made this decision!). I played #1 for Duke for two years, reaching the Number #1 ranking in the NCAA before turning pro. On my two year stint on the pro tour, I earned the right to play all four majors including the US Open. I got the opportunity to play such players as Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
After two years on the tour, I came back to North Carolina where I met my husband and finished up my degree at Duke. At Duke, I was the Assistant Women's Tennsi coach with our teams earning the #1 ranking in the country and culminated the year with winning the 2009 NCAA National Championship.

FRIENDLY TENNIS |
Clayton Hamilton will be assisting me throughout the summer. He will be a junior at Greensboro College where he plays #1 under Head Coach & Precision Tennis Academy Director of Tennis, Dave McCain.
I will bring my enjoyment of the game to the courts at Friendly Park and get people out and playing tennis. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer or if you want to get involved! Please email me or call me at 336-510-4653.

Classes range from Quickstart Tots for juniors 5 to 8 years of age to Junior Excellence programs for tournament players.

The Precision instructional program at Friendly will focus on the following levels :
-
-
Academy II - Quickstart 60's: The new national initiative of the USTA, Quickstart is the official tournament court for all USTA play for ages 10 & under. All Junior Team Tennis & Interclub matches for this age group will be played in this format. We will introduce and train juniors in these guidelines to best prepare them for the full sized tennis court after they turn 11. By combining the innovative format with our expertise in tennis training, our juniors will be best fit to enjoy the game while succeeding on the court.
-
Academy III: Designed to improve fundamentals including serve, volley and ground strokes for players moving up to the full sized court. An emphasis on game play and shot selection and development is key to the progressing player. Juniors 11-16 can train to prepare for high school and tournament tennis.
-
Junior Excellence: Players who out perform at the Academy level will be promoted to the Junior Excellence program. Currently, Precision Tennis offers this program on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Bur-Mil Park Tennis Center. Long term goals will be to have a Excellence program for Friendly members when participation numbers warrant.
 |
Junior Playing Programs

|
